It’s getting hot outside so that means you’re gonna be spending a lot more time in the sun. While you already may be proctecting your skin from the harmful UV rays most people don’t realize that you need to protect your hair as well. Here are a few tips for keeping your hair healthy this summer:
1. Get a deep conditioning treatment and a trim at the start of summer to give your hair the best fighting chance against the summer heat.
2. Make sure that the products you are using have SPF in them. A great line that will help protect your hair from the sun is Kevin Murphy, which we sell here at OPIVU.
3. Wear a hat! The sun can’t hurt your hair if it can’t touch it.
4. When you go swimming saturate your hair with regular tap water so that your hair cuticle is too full to absorb any of the harmful chlorine chemicals.
For any other tips or to set up an appointment you can call the salon (925) 838-8482 or email me courtney@opivu.com

The Balvenie “Single Barrel,” 15 year old, (Cask #7266), 47.8%, $62
One of the finest Balvenie 15 year olds that I’ve tasted. The flavors are clean, well defined, confident, and beautifully balanced. Full malty foundation (with some ripe barley thrown in). Soft, creamy vanilla, honeycomb, bright fruit (orange, nectarine, lemon peel, hints of pineapple), with emerging dried vanilla, coconut, oak resin, and subtle anise. Polished oak finish. It doesn’t have the depth that the classic older Balvenies have shown in the past, but what it does have, it has in spades. Quite splendid! (A Julio’s Liquors exclusive.)
